Context
For nearly 20 years, the association “Solidarité Marthe et Marie”, created by Father Dominique Yanogo, chaplain to pupils and students from 1987 to 1995 in Ouagadougou, has been supporting a group of young girls, pupils and students, each year, to help them succeed in school. The association is a channel of moral, financial and social support to young girls who call for “aid” for school when their schooling is threatened with interruption for non-academic reasons. It is open to anyone who wishes to work in a spirit of solidarity to support girls in serious difficulty. In 2010, the association was awarded a knighthood in the order of merit of Burkinabe youth.
The Louis Omer-Decugis Foundation is sensitive to the association’s work, especially in an area where the education of young girls is a major issue, and decided to support it for the first time in 2018 and again in subsequent years.
For 2021, the sponsorship enabled the funding of a class of about fifteen girls.
